The fact is, the Party can’t run without us Young Liberals – so the OYL must be as energetic, passionate, and committed as we are. This plan is focused on concrete, achievable changes that will have a big impact on the OYL – that will bring in new members and give existing ones the opportunities they deserve. We don’t know when the next election will be held. But we will make sure the OYL, and our Party, are ready to take on Doug Ford.
We will bring Young Liberals together through strong, connected networks
We will introduce a more diverse slate of social opportunities, across Ontario – not just pub nights in Toronto and Ottawa
We will introduce a mentorship program to connect Young Liberals one-on-one with senior staffers, elected officials, and Executive Council members
We will improve communication through a monthly newsletter, quarterly regional meetings, and president's council meetings
We will focus targeted outreach on high school and college students, who have been traditionally underrepresented in the OYL
We will spread opportunity together through more jobs and training for Young Liberals
We will create a campaign staffer bootcamp and “Campaigns 101” training program to bolster the next generation of campaign managers, staff, and volunteers
We will work to provide thorough, effective Safe Campaign training to ensure Young Liberals have the knowledge and confidence to report harassment or discrimination
We will create a job and volunteer opportunity board to make finding leadership roles easier and more transparent
We will push to expand the Ontario Liberal Internship Program and work toward establishing a caucus internship program
We will grow the party together by supporting campus and riding clubs
We will work toward organizing a robust policy process per Article 14 of the OYL constitution that will strengthen our party’s platform and have a real impact when we form government
We will create an OYL handbook and online knowledge hub to make starting and running campus clubs easier
We will implement a clear structure to make event funding easier, including implementing a semesterly budgeting process so you can plan your events well in advance
We will create a francophone strategy to engage francophone communities, beginning with ensuring that all of our materials are in both official languages
We will govern the OYL together through a commitment to good governance
We will champion progressive policies, including but not limited to making tuition more affordable, fighting climate change, supporting equity-seeking communities, and building more homes
We will renew the OYL constitution and create new roles for a Vice President Equity and Campaign Readiness Director
We will work toward providing subsidies and coordinate transportation to ensure that Young Liberals from rural communities can fully participate in the party
